Grateful for Another Great Camp

Last weekend at Mt. Tamborine we held our annual Youth Camp, and I’m so grateful to say that it was a great success! We had over 100 young people and leaders on-site, and everyone had a fun and impactful time. The production crew did a great job and the band led us in powerful, genuine times of worship. We had three key speakers who unpacked the biblical truth that as disciples of Jesus we are called, grown and sent. The Spirit of God convinced and challenged many of our young people with a number making the decision to follow Jesus, as well as many deep discussions about our faith and our calling. Praise God!

We also got to form closer bonds with the youth from the other Reformed churches who joined us for camp. It is very encouraging to see the strong friendships (and a few relationships…) that are blossoming between the young people in our state.

A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped make the 2018 Youth Camp run as well as it did. I came down quite sick in the week before, and had mostly lost my voice over the weekend, however a number of our leaders stepped up to the plate and put a big effort in to get everything ready and make it run smoothly. Thanks especially to Joanna for helping me with a huge amount of administration, to Jewel Chant for driving the bus to and from camp, and to our chefs, Aart and Hetty Van’t Veldt and Jim and Benita Schoenmaker, who laboured to prepare delicious food for all the campers—the Saturday night beef stew followed by sticky date pudding was particularly notable! There are so many people who contributed, thanks to each of you for your time.

Let me also offer my sincere thanks to all of you, our church family at BPCC, who supported Youth Camp in various ways. Especially those who offered to sponsor our young people—nine young people were given sponsorship to attend camp, and they were all incredibly grateful to have been given that opportunity. Once again, I received more offers of sponsorship than were needed, which is, to my mind, evidence of how much our church community values young people and is willing to support them as they grow in Christ.

Above all, praise God for all that He did among us; He moved powerfully in the hearts of our young people. Can I ask you to pray that God would continue to grow and shape our youth ministry in the weeks and months ahead.

Blessings,

Nathanael
