It is the next national youth and young adults convention, which will be held in Victoria in January 2018.
The national Conventions are held every two years, and are an awesome event. I know many people whose faith and lives have been changed through Conventions- including my own, I first decided to take responsibility for my faith and give my life to Christ at a convention in Tasmania. I’ve attended three Conventions so far, and each has been a very memorable and impacting experience.
I am actually a part of the committee organising the 2018 Wise Convention, and can confirm that it is shaping up to be a particularly good one- we have been blessed with a great site, talented speakers, and our preparations have been running smoothly and ahead of schedule.
What? The CRCA National Youth & Young Adults Convention is a bi-annual event held for young people aged 15-28 from Reformed churches like ours across the country, where we come together for a week build and deepen our faith while enjoying great community with others from similar backgrounds.
Where? Forest Edge CYC, Neerim East, Victoria. This is a spacious site set is a beautiful valley on the Latrobe River, in the mountains about 1/12 hours east of the Melbourne CBD. It has comprehensive modern facilities and newly renovated cabin accommodation, with tenting options also available.
When? 6th- 11th January 2018
Why? To be a place for young people who share our Reformed background to come together to deepen their faith and build lasting friendships and community.
Who? This year we have two great speakers- Peter Adam, a vicar emeritus and esteemed theologian, and the other our very own Pastor Adam Schoenmaker! They will be teaching on Wise living, how the book of Proverbs teaches us today.
Cost? Pricing: Early bird pricing is open until 30 June, so currently the cost is $415 to camp ($460 after early bird), or $525 for an ensuited cabin ($575 after early bird). This includes all meals, etc.
You can either fly down (free shuttle buses will be running to and from the airport) or drive- I road tripped to the WA convention last year with a group of friends, and can highly recommend it!
