Faith in Every Season

We will always have seasons in our lives. Whether it’s weather related, or life related, we all go through seasons. Throughout these seasons, we can experience many different situations and emotions. Sometimes these seasons require us to draw into our faith more deeply than at other times.  It is easy when life is going well to be unshaken in our faith. But when times are tough and hard to navigate, that is when our faith can be shaky. We can say that we have faith in Christ. But the question remains, what do you do with this faith? We need to put our faith into action. Hebrews 11:1 says, “now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  In the Bible, Peter’s faith was tested when he was walking on the water to Jesus. Matthew 14:29-31 says, “Then Peter got down out of...

Living a life of faith in the world

Living a life of faith in the world isn’t always easy.  The world is broken, in many forms. You only have to turn on the television, or listen to the radio news to get a picture of the world we live in. There are many reasons to lose hope and our faith. In the past few weeks, we have seen many heartbreaking situations unfold. All around the world, every day people are being caught up in situations that were out of their control. Not only have lives been lost, but many have been left with permanent scars, whether physical or emotional. In times of sadness and confusion, it’s easy to lose sight of Jesus. James 4:8 tells us to “come near to God and He will come near to you.” By submitting ourselves to God, we feel closer to Him. What a great comfort it is, to know that He is...

Grace

Grace is freely given to us because of what Jesus has done for us. We do not need to earn it. There is no checklist we are required to meet. We receive it as a gift. It can be easy at times to forget about grace.  Perhaps it is because grace isn’t something that is tangible. You can’t hold it in your hands. It is like the wind you can’t see, but instead feel. The gift of grace is something so valuable we should want to tell others, and grow in our relationship with God. After all, in Acts 20:24 the Apostle Paul says “I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” One way we can be prepared to testify of...

Who are you, and where do you belong?

Who are you, and where do you belong? Everyone has a name, and a place to belong. These answers aren’t always simple, and in some situations complicated. In general everyone can answer this. Everyone has a surname, a family name. Within a family, everyone has a role and place to belong. Each member has a title; mother, father, daughter, son, sister, brother, and the list can go on. Apart from a family, you could belong to an organisation, or a club. The Church (in a global sense) is also a family. We are all children of God. To define it even more, Bray Park Community Church is a family. Here at BPCC there are various places where you can belong. I may be biased, but the Creative Team is one great place to belong to. Here you will find like-minded people, who encourage and care for one-another. This is just one...
