Care Network

Matthew 25: 40 “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
It is my privilege to represent you at the Care network meeting this week. Six churches are part of this network and our aim is minister to needy people in our community. Our major roll is to provide emergency food. Some of you bring food on a Sunday and leave in the foyer of the church and we give it out on a Wednesday. This year we have averaged five families each week looking for help.
The main reason people need food is because they had to pay for car registration, rates, and medical expenses (etc.) this highlighted the need for financial planning. Three of our members did a course with Christian against Poverty and have become money coaches. We run our first “how to live on a budget” three week course starting February 29th.
At the meeting this week another need was presented. How we can help supplying much needed furniture. A storage shed owner has given the network 3 3x2mtr sheds which are now full of donated furniture. There are people who need many of these items but transporting goods is a problem.
Can you help once a week or once a month on a roster as a pickup and delivery person? Please let me know and I will put you in contact with the right person.
On a different note, the Care team is looking to add more names to its voluntary transport team. If you are available to pick up a family for church on Sunday or if you can help a person get to an appointment during the week, we would love to hear from you.
